Reincarnation is a N'tormat page that creates a delayed execution circle. It is not a general revival item. Outside a valid sacrifice zone, players caught in its six-meter circle die when it triggers two seconds after casting. Inside a valid zone, the ritual can move the team to that zone's destination, but a N'tormat holder normally must remain inside the circle for the transition to occur.
There is one important separate interaction: after the Anima Harvester in Soulbound Threshold, Reincarnation can open the Veil of Memory to Terminal Lucidity without killing anyone. Identify the zone and intended destination before casting. The same page can produce an ordinary death, a sacrifice transition, or a harmless door-opening result depending on context.
Obtain and select the correct page
Reincarnation belongs to Hallowed Concepts. It can be rewarded through a Shrine of Compulsion objective, the Ancient Sepulcher associated with The Wake, or an N'kuhana Trial. These encounters provide random pages to players and supply the N'tormat to someone who does not have it.
Once you own the page, use the change-key-item action to select Reincarnation. Then use the activate-key-item action to cast it. The Curio's controls are separate from ordinary equipment, so check the selected page and your control bindings before pressing the action.

Casting immediately consumes the page, even if the ritual does not achieve your desired result. It becomes Reincarnation (Consumed), and each additional copy supplies another cast per stage. Ordinary stage regeneration and sacrifice-transition regeneration follow different rules, so the availability of a later cast must be checked separately.
Understand the circle before using it near allies
The ritual marks a six-meter circle below the caster. Its effect extends vertically as a column, so standing above or below the visible ground marking does not necessarily place a body outside the effect. After two seconds, it affects bodies inside regardless of team.
Players and weak non-boss monsters are executed. More durable targets take damage equal to 25% of maximum health. The damage ignores armor, blocking, and one-shot protection. This is not a normal projectile that a nearby player should expect to block with ordinary defenses.
The caster can move after activation and leave the circle before it fires. That can change who dies, but it can also prevent a travel transition if no other N'tormat holder remains inside. Do not apply the instruction to step out indiscriminately when the actual goal is sacrifice travel.
In cooperative play, tell the group which result you intend and where the circle will be. A teammate entering it during the two-second delay can be affected even if they did not cast the ritual. The relevant position is where each player stands when the effect triggers, not simply where they stood when you pressed the button.
Use the sacrifice-zone message as a check
When a player who owns Reincarnation stands in a valid sacrifice zone, the message The N'tormat shudders in anticipation... appears. A consumed copy still qualifies for this ownership cue. The message helps you recognize a zone, but a consumed page by itself does not supply an unused cast.
Check three conditions before activation: you have an available Reincarnation cast, you are in the zone associated with your intended route, and the required N'tormat holder will remain in the ritual circle. A valid zone with no holder inside can still execute players while failing to produce the transition.
The sacrifice zone and the six-meter execution circle are different areas. A zone may cover a larger portion of the environment, while the cast creates its own smaller circle within it. Being somewhere in the destination's zone does not mean every player on the map is inside the ritual circle.
Choose a destination from the current location
The following locations have distinct travel uses. Conditions are part of the route, rather than optional details to ignore once you have the page.
| Current location or context | Result to plan for |
|---|---|
| A normal stage in the first thirty seconds | Another stage of the same tier, without advancing stage count. |
| Teleporter after a Soul-binding trial, except Conduit Canyon | The next stage the Teleporter would have reached. |
| Wetland Aspect or Tenebrous Quagmire sacrifice zone | A random N'kuhana Winnowing trial. |
| Relevant zones in Bulwark's Ambry, Helminth Hatchery, Reformed Altar or Prime Meridian | Terminal Lucidity, if it has not been completed in the run. |
| Neural Sanctum sacrifice zone | Soulbound Threshold, if the Anima Harvester has not been defeated. |
| Iron Alluvium or Iron Auroras sacrifice zone | Conduit Canyon, if its portal route has not already been taken. |
| A Moment, Whole sacrifice zone | Commencement. |
| Void Fields sacrifice zone | Void Locus. |
| Void Locus sacrifice zone | The Planetarium. |
| Soulbound Threshold door after the Anima Harvester | Opens the Veil of Memory without killing players. |
These entries describe destinations, not universal coordinates. Use the zone cue and the relevant local interaction rather than cast anywhere on a named map and assume the same result. The whole-map early-stage case is separate from the specific sacrifice zones elsewhere.
Use the early-stage reroute within its time window
On normal stages one through five, the entire map is a sacrifice zone during the first thirty seconds. The destination is a different stage of the same tier, and the stage count does not advance. This is a reroute rather than another completed stage added to the run.
The zone disappears after the time window. If you wait too long, the same cast becomes an ordinary execution attempt rather than the early-stage travel you intended. Check the elapsed stage time and the zone cue instead of assuming that a normal stage remains valid indefinitely.
Because travel is still sacrifice-based, coordinate the holder and circle conditions. Deciding to leave the stage is different from ensuring the cast meets the conditions that allow the team to arrive elsewhere. A rushed cast that spends the page outside the window can leave you with a consumed page and the wrong result.
Leave the overcharged Teleporter through the intended route
After the Soul-binding trial, the ordinary Teleporter normally becomes unusable. A fifteen-meter sacrifice zone forms around it, allowing Reincarnation to send the team onward. Conduit Canyon is the exception: its Teleporter stays usable and does not create that sacrifice-zone alternative.
You can also leave through the Ritual Portal toward Soulbound Threshold or through another available portal. Choose based on the destination you want. Reincarnation is an alternative travel interaction, not an obligation to sacrifice players simply because you completed the trial.
If you choose the ritual, place its circle inside the Teleporter's valid zone and keep at least one N'tormat holder inside at the trigger. Players caught in the sacrifice die with revive items disabled, but those deaths do not terminate the run; the team continues at the destination after the transition.
Open the Veil of Memory after the Anima Harvester
After defeating the Anima Harvester in Soulbound Threshold, use Reincarnation at the relevant door to open the Veil of Memory. This interaction kills nobody and does not require a N'tormat holder to remain inside the circle. It follows special door rules rather than the ordinary sacrifice-transfer rules.
A complete N'tormat is not mandatory for the door. Owning all six usable pages other than Clarity between the team changes the exit objective to include the hint or..., but Reincarnation opens the door whether or not that collection is complete.
Do not spend the page in an unrelated part of the arena because you see the alternative-exit hint. Find the actual door context. A collection hint tells you that another route exists; it is not a replacement for using the ritual at the right location.
Keep revival rules separate inside and outside zones
Outside a valid sacrifice zone, a player executed by the circle dies normally, and an appropriate revival item can work. Inside a valid travel zone, revival items and similar protections are disabled for those the circle kills. The two cases are materially different.
That means carrying Dio's Best Friend is not a reliable way to ignore the cost of sacrifice travel. Its ordinary death behavior applies outside the special zone, while the travel ritual uses its own rule. Check the zone before assuming that your inventory will automatically undo the death.
A failed travel condition can be especially costly. If no N'tormat holder remains inside a valid zone's ritual circle, the players inside can still die with revival disabled while the transition fails. Correct holder positioning is therefore part of the route itself, not merely a convenience.
Check remaining casts after a sacrifice transition
Consumed Reincarnation copies skip regeneration at the start of the next stage after a sacrifice transition. Unconsumed copies remain available. This applies to players who own the page, so do not assume that everyone arrives with a newly refreshed cast because they normally expect pages to regenerate on stage entry.
If you want another sacrifice on the next stage, preserve an unused copy or coordinate with a teammate who has one. A duplicate provides another available cast; it does not change the first cast's location and holder requirements.
Entering a Winnowing trial also does not trigger the normal page regeneration. Check the inventory when you arrive, particularly if the route you intend after the trial requires Reincarnation again. Travel to a new-looking environment is not always the same event as ordinary stage-start regeneration.
Diagnose the result before spending another copy
If the page was consumed but no travel happened, check the zone, its time or run condition, and the N'tormat holder's position when the circle triggered. If players died, distinguish an ordinary execution from a failed sacrifice transition before assuming a revival item should have saved them.
If you reached another destination but cannot cast again, check the sacrifice regeneration exception and whether an unused copy remains. If the door in Soulbound Threshold did not open, return to the door context rather than pursue an unnecessary complete-book collection as the first repair.
Use Reincarnation only after you can name the intended destination and the condition that makes the current location valid. That turns a vague sacrifice description into a deliberate route choice and prevents a spent page from being mistaken for successful travel.
